  These Santa Barbara, CA-born brothers launched Apolis Activism in 2004 with a line of cotton T-shirts so soft and durable it inspired a cult following. Their socially-minded label (the word apolis means "global citizen") has since grown to include utilitarian shorts, jackets, and accessories that aren't any less sharp for being sustainably produced. The brothers have also managed to land collaborations with rugged, style-minded American aces like Katin and Filson. The part-time surfers, full-time businessmen sat down with GQ.com recently to clue us in on what makes them tick. Here's what they said.—Andrew Richdale
